Intro Post!
Jul. 10th, 2017 07:53 pmHello, friends, and welcome to the project currently and affectionately referred to as CMRN (Communal Magic Romance Novels), but what will probably come to be known more formally as Hexhamverse, after the small magical town in which it's set. :3 If you're here, you have probably been solicited as having interest in participating in this small silly project, so-- let's chat!!
So what exactly is going on here?
It all started when I went "hm, writing a series of ridic romance novels would be fun, but do you know what would be even more fun..... adding MAGIC!" And then that quickly became an idea of communally creating a magical world in which to write said ridic romance novels with friends (because nothing says friendship like being too lazy to craft a world on your own! :D), with shared characters and a mythology we all contribute to, all in the pursuit of ridiculous romance!
So we all help create this world and then whoever wants to can write in it?
Yup, exactly! Anyone who's interested is welcome to contribute, either with the immediate purpose of writing something or just hanging out for a while and seeing if an idea makes itself known. :3
Sounds fun! What are we writing?
Romance novels! Ridiculous romance novels! Whatever genders can be involved; you can involve lots of explicit sex or no sex at all; it can be poly of whatever style; as much or as little plot as you'd like; no limits here! Just that the central story, whatever it might be, should be a love story of some kind. (Preferably as fluffy and tropey as possible.)
So how is this communal world thing going to work exactly?
Hopefully well! :") We'll discuss details of things that we think we need to work out-- I'm going to make skeleton posts with everything I can come up with to crowdsource/brainstorm/discuss, and everyone is welcome to throw ideas in or bring up things that they want to discuss, too. And then we'll all work off of what we've created, and as issues come up mid-writing, those can be discussed, too. If issues come up, we'll resolve them accordingly, but again, as these are intended to be Silly Romance Novels, hopefully there won't be a lot of plot concerns!
Can we write one another's characters? What happens if someone does something I don't like with a character I created?
We sure can, with the permission of their creators! We'll try to hash out in advance, as much as possible, characters' personalities and relationships with one another so that there won't be issues-- and I'm assuming we're all, you know, not dicks, so if someone goes "hey, my character wouldn't do/say [x], they'd do/say [y], can we maybe fix that," hopefully we'll be open to that! \o/ The whole point here is us working together, so we want to make that as fun and respectful as possible.
If multiple people are writing at the same time, how do we ensure continuity?
ON THE FLY, MY FRIENDS. :'D No, but seriously, we're going to hash out as much as we can in advance, and then discuss what else is needed as it comes up. Not the most organized method, sure, but hey, they're fluffy ridiculous romance novels. The worldbuilding isn't meant to be that intense, and of course we'll do our best, but the odd potential continuity error never hurt anyone.
Okay, I'm in! What happens next?
Now you can head on over to any of the skeleton posts, take a look at what I've got so far, and contribute accordingly! Also make sure you're introducing yourself on the author post, so we can all get to know you and see who's involved in this mad venture. :D
